LEGAL TRIAGE
A CONCIERGE “ON CALL” PROGRAM

The Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that it has formed a strategic alliance with the law firm, Foley & Foley, PC, that will allow our members to receive a very unique benefit. The legal triage concierge program will allow our members to better manage risk and avoid legal pitfalls. Foley & Foley, PC is our local workplace or employment law resource. Under this program, Foley & Foley will decipher workplace regulations so you can concentrate on your business.

We firmly believe that the first decision made when an issue arises will make a difference between a good result and a disastrous one. We offer you this unique risk management program because we know, first hand, that businesses are confronting a unique number of challenges and a high level of pressure caused by the global, regional and local economies.

For a fixed monthly fee less than what most firms charge by the hour, your business can have unlimited telephone access to Foley & Foley’s seasoned lawyers to ensure that the best possible decisions are made.

• How well prepared are you if the Department of Labor knocks on your door to conduct a wage and hour audit?

• What is your exposure to a discrimination complaint filed with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination?

• Are you in compliance with the rigid Independent Contractor Law in Massachusetts?

• Do you know how to effectively end the employment relationship with one of your employees?

• Do you know how to eliminate challenges when you are compelled to reduce the size of your workforce?

• Do you understand the employer mandates under the Massachusetts and national health care reform?

• Do you know how to properly execute a mechanic’s lien or comply with the Fair Debt Collection Act?

• Do you understand the legal advantage of operating your business under an S Corp., C Corp. or LLC?

• Do you know to avoid paying out of pocket for an attorney to assist you in collecting unpaid bills?

• Are you in compliance with the obligation to secure and protect personal data?

Foley & Foley knows the answers to these questions and many more. They also know that when a workplace issue presents a rapid and reasoned response is essential.

We designed our legal triage concierge program to assist businesses in these difficult economic times. This program is intended to maximize your opportunity to avoid distractions in your workplace. This program will allow you to address issues du jour and seek and obtain advice and counsel from seasoned employment lawyers.

We recognize that every business is different – number of employees, frequency of issues and level of resources provides just a few examples. Foley & Foley will tailor the monthly fixed fee for this program to meet the needs of your particular business.

The Chamber’s Electricity Cost Savings
Affinity Program!

Dear Chamber Member:

The Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in conjunction with the SouthCoast Electric Power Group (SCEPG), is launching a new electric cost savings program for its small business members. The program is designed to help members save money by providing a resource that will enable participating members to make the electric supply choices that best meet the needs of their businesses.

Background and History

SCEPG was formed in 2002 by the Fall River Area and New Bedford Chambers of Commerce to provide an opportunity for their largest users of electricity to save money by negotiating rates for electric supply from a variety of competitive suppliers. The group currently consists of the cities of Fall River and New Bedford as well as more than 30 large commercial, industrial and institutional users in the region. SCEPG has been very successful in managing electric supply costs. In aggregate its members have saved more than $12.0 million in the past three years versus utility supply rates.

New Small Business Electricity Program

Until now, participation in SCEPG was limited to large consumers, using more than 40,000 kWh per month. We recognized that our smaller business members also had a need for a resource to help them control their cost of electric supply. The Small Business Program fills this void and makes the benefits of electric supply choice available to all our members. Our consultants, Risk Services Group, will administer the program and will provide you with a review of your historic costs, a summary and analysis of the supply price and term options available to you and pricing from multiple competitive suppliers. This unbiased process will give you the ability to make the energy supply decision that best meets the needs of your business.

How Do I Participate?

Getting started is easy. Please complete the “SCEPG Member Data Release Form” and return it to the Chamber. You will be contacted by our energy consultant, Risk Services Group, and they will begin the process of analyzing your supply costs.

Thank you for your attention to the announcement of this important new membership service.

Kind Regards,

Robert A. Mellion, Esq.
President and CEO
